The Gran\u00e5sa horse farm, \u201cSpace for horses\u201d, is located in Degerby, Inkoo in Southern Finland, a little over a half an hour\u2019s drive from Helsinki city centre. This open shelter stable for approximately 35 horses aims at providing a life typical for the species for adult geldings and mares. In addition, the horse farm gives lessons in groundwork and classical riding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00c5sa Gr\u00f6nlund, the owner of the Gran\u00e5sa horse farm says that they decided to purchase the Haymatic system when an easier way was needed to feed the herd of ten geldings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cIt took the horses about one week to get used to the automatic feeder. A couple of horses were a bit hesitant about the automatic feeder, whereas the others got used to it immediately. In terms of herd dynamics, it took approximately two weeks until we could be certain that each horse is getting enough to eat. A couple of weeks into the new system, our employees stated that they now had time to do something other than just feed hay to the horses. They were satisfied and the employer noticed that the investment would repay itself quickly. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The horses became calmer, there was less stress related to feeding and the horses were not even hungry anymore, even though the theoretical amount of hay was the same as before the automatic feeders were introduced. We used to feed the horses four times a day using slow feeder nets. We now have two four-sided automatic feeders for a herd of 10 horses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hay feeding at the Gran\u00e5sa horse farm was fully automated in the summer of 2023. Four more Haymatic 4 automatic hay feeders were added to the paddocks. The first Haymatic 6 automatic hay feeder was designed and implemented to meet the needs of the stable. We were able to utilise existing buildings by adding 5 feeding modules to them. These changes created excellent conditions for people and horses in Inkoo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
